Just before Phenom II brand can Rest In Piece AMD wants to please its CPU fans with yet another interesting solution. According to Internet media sources, the novelty will have AMD Phenom II X4 980 Black Edition naming and will be based on 45nm piece of silicon clocked at 3.7 GHz.
AMD Phenom II X4 980 Black Edition processor is a member of Deneb family, while its name says the model will have unlocked multiplier that allows it to be easily overclocked to high speeds. Therefore, this chip should be greatly evaluated by overclockers and hardware enthusiasts. The specs also feature 6MB of L3 cache and dual channel DDR3 1333 and DDR2 1066 memory controllers.
In addition, the new AMD Phenom II X4 980 Black Edition CPU will be compatible with AM3 and AM2+ Sockets and have TDP level of 125 Watts, the price has not been disclosed. The newbie should debut very soon since AMD plans to introduce its next generation chips Llano and Bulldozer this summer.
