AMD Radeon HD 6800 and HD 6800 price cut
AMD is following Nvidia’s way to increase competitiveness for GeForce GTX 560 Ti graphics card
The release of a new card has always had some effect on pricing policy of already released ones. But if its novelty is presented by your main rival, then the effect is doubled. This was already demonstrated by NVIDIA by the time AMD launched HD 6800 series cards. And looks like AMD is following that way too due to presentation of NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti graphics card. The price/performance ratio of the latter triggered AMD to cut prices for Radeon HD 6800 and HD 6800 series cards, as follows:
- Radeon HD 6870 1 GB: new $219, old $239
- Radeon HD 6950 1 GB: new $259, old $279)
- Radeon HD 6950 2 GB: new $269~289, old $299)
This creates more AMD high-performance solutions in sub-$300 price segment, which is targeted by GeForce GTX 560 Ti too. The new prices should be set very soon.
