The official release date for AMD Radeon HD 6950 and HD 6970 graphics cards is set to 50th week 2010 (13-19th of December), meanwhile a member of Chinese forum expreview.com has published a slide revealing AMD Radeon HD 6950 card specs.
I can not judge on what the author of this slide was guided by, however, from the amount of grammar errors we can conclude this slide is fake. Let’s hope the specs shown are based on real facts, and are not out of one’s own head.
According to slide, AMD Radeon HD 6950 graphics cards will feature 1536 Stream Processors and GPU core clock set at 800 Mhz as well as 1 GB if GDDR5 vRAM coupled with 256-bit memory interface. In theory, card’s throughput is about 2.4 TFLOPS. Note that AMD Radeon HD 5870 has 2.72 TFLOPS compute power, while it is 2.0 TFLOPS for recently announced AMD Radeon HD 6870 cards. Power consumption of AMD Radeon HD 6950 in Idle is not more that 19 W, at full Load — 217 W. You will need two additional 6-pin power connectors to run the cards. In addition, the card includes two DVI, TWO mDP and one HDMI connectors.
