AMD Radeon HD 7000 (Southern Islands) details in June

Details on AMD’s newest graphics processor line-up will be revealed at AMD Fusion Development Summit (AFDS) which will be hold in mid June 2011.

It has got known that details on AMD’s newest graphics processor line-up, codename Southern Islands, that will be used in Radeon HD 7000 series products, will be revealed at AMD Fusion Development Summit (AFDS) which will be hold in mid June 2011. According to AFDS timetable, the presentation related to this will be called “Evolution of AMD’s Graphics Core, and Preview of Graphics Core Next”, wiht Mike Houston and Mike Mantor, Sunnyvale company representatives, as hosts.

Just to remind you, Southern Islands series GPUs will be an enhanced version of ones used in Radeon HD 6000 cards but the first are to be produced using 28nm process technology. This should bring considerable performance boost coupled with increased energy efficiency as well as some other interesting features. We should see the first full-fledged HD 7000 products by the end of this year, starting from Autumn.
