Release date of AMD Radeon HD 6900 series graphic cards is moved
The launch of AMD Radeon HD 6990 cards is postponed to Q1 2011, while AMD Radeon HD 6950 and HD 6970 will be introduced to public in December 2010
The information about the delay of AMD Radeon HD 6990 (AMD Antilles) was first presented in the latest AMD product roadmap .
Radeon HD 6900 (AMD Cayman) series cards was first planned to launch on 22nd of November 2010. But, the date is not final. AMD had send information letters to public information sources stating the release of AMD Radeon HD 6950 and AMD Radeon HD 6970 is pushed till 50th week 2010.
Due to lots of rumors speaking about possible delay reasons, we decide to clear this matter by directly contacting AMD representatives. AMD stated there are no problems with card manufacturing and refereed to necessary support from its partners, who need some time to sell supplies of graphic cards of previous generation.
Demand for the ATI Radeon HD 5800 series continues to be very strong, the ATI Radeon HD 5970 remains the fastest graphics card in the world and the newest members of the AMD graphics family, the AMD Radeon HD 6850 and HD 6870, have set new standards for performance at their respective price points, and are available in volume.
With that in mind, we are going to take a bit more time before shipping the AMD Radeon HD 6900 series. As of today, the NDA lift for information relating to the AMD Radeon HD 6950 and HD 6970 will be week 50. We will be providing additional information on these products, including the exact date and time of the NDA lift, in the weeks prior to launch.
