On the edge of official announcement of new Radeon HD 6900 series graphics cards, one of the German forums has leaked some photos of PowerColor Radeon HD 6970 card:
Together with a short photo session a lucky graphic card owner did not mind sharing benchmark results of the novelty.

A test run of the latest benchmark, 3DMark 11, has resulted in Radeon HD 6970 having P4939 points in Performance mode:

Our test including GeForce GTX 470 has ended with slightly lower results:
Summing up, first results indicate AMD Radeon HD 6970 performance level being close to the one of GeForce GTX 480 / GeForce GTX 570.
It seems that AMD has missed a time advantage they had to develop new graphics cards of high-performance. But do not forget that there will be a new AMD flagship graphics card released right after New Year celebrations — Radeon HD 6990.
