Exceleram EP3001a — budget DDR3 memory review

Power Chip Rev. D 128 memory chips and и 6-layer PCB. Overclocked to 2087MHz with 7-10-7 timings fro a cost of up-to 22€

In this article we will speak about offerings of a relatively young company Exсeleram that specializes on memory, SSD and USB sticks productions. The company was founded in 2007 by Taiwanese memory manufacturer. Since October 2010 the company became independent with its own headquarters in Germany. The main motto of the company — optimal combination of price and quality of products with much attention devoted to customer care.

On 21st of February 2011 Exceleram has introduced DDR3 memory modules of “EP” series. The line up includes three models:

  • EP3001A 1333MHz, 1x2048MB, 9-9-9-24, 1.50V

  • EP3002A: 1333MHz,2x2048MB, 9-9-9-24, 1.50V

  • EP3003A: 1333MHz, 3x2048MB, 9-9-9-24, 1.50V

The models are based on Power Chip Rev. D 128 memory chips and 6-layer PCB. The main difference is number of memory modules in a kit. The entry-level Exceleram EP3001A 2GB model is targeted at low-end market segment and has no heatsink. Recommended price for such memory stick is 20-22€ for Europe and $28-30 for USA. This particular model is the one we will be dealing with in today’s review.
