GeForce GTX 550 Ti with 1536 MB coming soon

Onda prepares GeForce GTX 550 Ti with memory chips of same density, thus bringing 1536MB of video memory of GDDR5 type.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti graphic card of reference design combine 192-bit interface and 1GB of GDDR5 memory which is kind an unusual for these products, since memory chips used on these cards have different density. Otherwise, the card should have 1536MB memory with 192-bit bus or 1Gb of 2GB running trough a 128-bit memory.interface.

One of the Asian NVIDIA’s partners, Onda, has followed that idea and prepares GeForce GTX 550 Ti with memory chips of same density, thus bringing 1536MB of video memory of GDDR5 type. The memory bus width and the number of shaders have not changed, 192bit and 192 cores, respectively, however, the clock has increased to 1000/2000/4400 MHz for GPU/Shader/Memory.

The power system uses 4+2 phase design, requiring two 6-pin power connectors. The GPU is cooled by six heat-pipes joined inside a heat sink and cooled via two 90mm fans. Price and availability dates are not disclosed, but one should not exclude the possibility other NVIDIA partner to release the cards with increased memory buffer.
