New quad-core flagship is clocked at 3,6GHz with 8Мb of L3 cache and TDP of 95W
Intel has updated Xeon family by presenting E3-1200 series CPUs. These processors are first to present Sandy Bridge microarchitecture in entry-level segment of servers systems and workstations.
Among eleven presented models, the most powerful one is E3-1280 with fore cores each running at 3.5GHz as well as HT technology supports and 8MB of cache. Its TPD numbers 95W while, the “youngest” dual-core E3-1220L boast of only 20W of TDP.
One and a half months after that, Intel plans to present new Intel Xeon E3-1290 model.
New quad-core flagship is clocked at 3.6GHz with 8Мb of L3 cache, supports DDR3 1333/1066, HT technology and compatible with Socket LGA 1155. TDP does not exceed 100W, in fact, it is 95 W. Price info is not available at the moment, but judging from prices on E3-1200 line-up, we assume E3-1290 to cost more than $600.
