More info on AMD Barts
A fresh slide with specs of AMD’s next-generation GPUs based on Barts die
They did it again. Chinesse source Chiphell, presented a fresh slide with specs of AMD’s next-generation GPUs based on Barts die. Moreover, the slide not only give us Radeon HD 6700 specs but also allows us to compare performance to currents HD 5700 as well as HD 5800 graphic cards.
As we see, Barts based graphic cards feature twice the memory bandwidth compared to Juniper based Radeon HD 5700 series cards due to 256-bit wide high-speed memory interface. New gen graphic cards will be equipped with 5 GT/s memory chips which can theoretically operate at 1250 MHz (5 GHz effective). However, Barts XT and Pro will have 1050 MHz (4.20 GHz effective) and 1000 MHz (4 GHz effective) clocks, respectively. The SIMDs of HD 6700 uses more efficient 4-D stream processor design. This design allows Barts XT to blow 2.3 TFLOP/s with 1280 stream processors and GPU clocked at 900MHz, while the Radeon HD 5870 manages 2.72 TFLOP/s with 1600 stream processors, 850MHz. While fill rate are and memory bandwidth are the same for HD 6750 and 5850, there some parameter where HD 6770 can even beat imperious 5870.
And HD 67xx is upper midrange chip vesrus High — end chips. So we can expecting a huge performance boost from the flagship Cayman GPU when it releases. Moreover, this means almost Twice the Horsepower over previous generation HD 5700 series. All these changes will definitely result in bigger die size and more energy-efficiency compared to Juniper.
Still there is no official proof for all of this. So we’ll just have to wait to see what really picture will look like.
