MSI expands G3 motherboard line
Following ASrock, another world-known Taiwanese manufacture, has revealed its plans to introduce four more motherboards supporting the latest PCI Express 3.0 standard.
Following ASrock, another world-known Taiwanese manufacturer, MSI, has revealed its plans to introduce four more motherboards supporting the latest PCI Express 3.0 standard. All of them are dedicated for use with Intel processors with Socket LGA 1155. The novelties should debut this quarter.
Apart from already launched Z68A-GD80 (G3) and Z68A-GD65 (G3) models, there will will new products with the following names: Z68A-GD55 (G3), Z68A-G45 (G3), Z68A-G43 (G3) and P67A-GD65 (G3). As the naming scheme indicates, these motherboards are based on Z68 and P67 chipset. MSI also notes X79 Express chipset, however, corresponding processors with Socket LGA-2011 should be released not until Q4 2011.
Note, that MSI motherboards supporting PCI Express 3.0 and Socket LGA 1155 have great future prospect. In fact, they can be used with upcoming Intel Ivy Bridge processors dated to arrive in Q1-Q2 2012. On the other hand, PCI Express 3.0 is said to be supported by NVIDIA and AMD graphics cards too, Radeon HD 7000 series in particular. In addition, Z68A-GD80 (G3) and Z68A-GD65 (G3) are already available for pre-order in several European e-stores.
