PCI Express 3.0 specification is available for partners

PCI-SIG has introduced the basic specification of PCI Express 3.0bus to its partners.

PCI-SIG — the industry organization chartered to develop and manage the PCI standard as well as PCI Express standards, (PCIe), has introduced the basic specification of PCI Express 3.0 bus to its partners.

PCIe 3.0 specification expands data transfer rates to 8 GT/s. In addition, it is back-compatible with previous PCIe 1.x (2.5 GT/s) and 2.x (5.0 GT/s) standards. The throughput of one PCIe 3.0 line is 1 GB/s one way (x1), and it is 32 GB/s for x16 bus. New 128b/130b data transfer algorithm allows to fill the bus by almost 100%, which is 25% more efficient compared to previous 8b/10b.
