Alternative cooling system for ATI Radeon HD 6970

We can not exclude the possibility that AMD took into account nVidia’s experience and innovative turbine cooling system would deal with a hot “temper” of Radeon HD 6970.

As far as we know, AMD Radeon HD 6970, graphic card based on AMD Cayman GPU has TDP of about 240W. We already know what does 240W (or even more) means for a graphic card, take an example of GeForce GTX 480 with specified TDP of 250W. There are no doubts that such heat volume is a pain in a neck for a conventional air cooling systems. All those high temperatures make still frighten many potential buyers.

We found a video demonstrating quite an innovative cooling system for Radeon HD 6000 graphic cards based on Southern Islands GPU series. That’s right, it is not a mistake — its Southern Islands. We already indicated the circumstances that have forced AMD to replace Southern Islands graphic processors to Northern Islands here. This was followed by graphic card renaming. As a result, 6800 series cards became 6900. In this case, we can not exclude the possibility that AMD took into account NVIDIA’s experience and innovative turbine cooling system would deal with a hot “temper” of Radeon HD 6970. This is only an assumption and time will tell us whether this is true, meantime, take a look at the video which shoes what we can expect in the near future.
