Thermalright Archon released

Thermalright company has released a new processor cooler Archon. Heatsink design features efficient CPU cooling, as well as ease of installation on various platforms.
The new tower heatsink is expected to be used with 140mm fans (it is also possible to install 120mm fan) and equipped with a six heat-pipes with fins across them. Heat-pipes are nickel plated to slow the oxidation of the metal and increase the lifetime and performance of the heatsink. Fin design is something to pay attention to. Previously, heatsink mostly had only horizontal fins. In this case fin arrays were not able to cover the whole fan, airflow was thus wasted which affected the overall temperatures. For the first time, developers have used two types of fins, thus increasing cooling surface area. Therefore, Archon total dissipation area is 150 x 125mm (is 1.6 times greater than the one of Venomous X heatsink ), allowing you to use virtually the entire flow of 120/140mm fan.
The thickness of the cooler has also changed — 55mm. This was done to resolve problems reported by users when cooler interferes with the installation of the memory modules in case all memory slots (4 or 6) are filled , which is now very common. Most problems arose from the memory modules with its own heat-spreaders with a height greater than 43 mm. With Archon it s not a problem no more.
The height of the cooler is rather big — 170mm, so you may have trouble installing it inside a case with thickness of less than 190mm or if additional side-panel fans are mounted inside the case.
Archon has the same pressure vault bracket system like its brother the Venomous X, a package also includes mounting bracket for AMD processor motherboards. Therefore, the cooler is compatible with the following platforms: Intel Socket 1366/1156/775 and AMD AM2/AM3 Socket. Heatsink features nickel-plated copper base polished to a mirror shine.
Archon comes with one fan Thermalright TY-140 PWM, a tube of Chill Factor III thermal paste and clips to install 140/120mm fans. In addition, the fans can be installed on both sides. The price is unknown.
