Unlocking Radeon HD 6950 2GB — tested

Unlocking Radeon HD 6950 2GB with following tests — for and against

LOST PLANET 2 Benchmark

Lost Planet 2 — Third Person Shooter. The game is a sequel of Lost Planet: Extreme Condition. The action takes place twenty years after events described in the first part, but now the planet is covered with barren desert and tropical jungles instead of snow and ice and people are not fighting Akrids only by each other too on its way to supremacy.

WE used test “B” built in demo-version of the game and widely supporting API D3D11 capabilities providing good repeatability of test results.

  • API: DirectX 11
  • Graphics settings, as follows:

This games also indicates performance loss of original Radeon HD 6950 2GB against its modified variant which amount to 9-13%. Again the difference between overclocked and unlocked cards is as small as 1-2%.

# Avatar Chris,

I picked up a Saphhire HD 6950 today. The one with dual fans and dual bios.
I was happy when I switched to the secondary bios and found the shaders unlocked. No flash necessary.
