Radeon HD 6950 2GB in all its forms showed good performance level. But at monitor resolution of 2560×1440 demonstrated level of throughput of tested cards was not enough for a comfortable gaming.

The advantage of overclocked and unlocked variant of Radeon HD 6950 2GB over default card accounts to 9-15%. Additional 128 SPs add 2-4% performance to unlocked variant compared to overclocked one with clocks at same level for both cards.

I picked up a Saphhire HD 6950 today. The one with dual fans and dual bios.
I was happy when I switched to the secondary bios and found the shaders unlocked. No flash necessary.
