Zotac plans Extreme variant of GeForce GTX 580 card

The novelty will features custom PCB with 16+2 phase power design and quite massive cooler.

We are likely to see Zotac graphics card line exapnd with yet another flagship variant of NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 graphics card that will have noticeable differences compared to reference model. According to Asian media sources that has leaked several photos of the novelty, the so called Zotac GTX 580 Extreme Edition features custom PCB with 16+2 phase power design and quite massive cooler.


The last is said to have six heat-pipes and a pair of big-size fans that allows it to operate more efficiently than the card with stock NVIDIA cooling solution. Besides, large aluminum heatsink covers most of card’s area moving avay the heat from memory chips and VRMs.



Regarding power subsystem, which by the way uses PWM, it includes high-quality tantalum capacitors and proadlizers. All of this makes Zotac GTX 580 Extreme Edition extra stable at full loads. Note that twelve Samsung memory chips form 1536MB of GDDR5 memory clocked at 850 (3400) MHz and connected to a 40nm GF110 GPU via 384-bit interface. The set of video outputs numbers two Dual-link DVI plus HDMI and DisplayPort. Release time and price matters are not disclosed.
